Thursday 3/11

Well I have been following the points with weight watchers since Monday...thus I am on my 4th day. It hasn't been too hard as we have stayed in all week. But I feel huge and am worried that it is not going to have done anything. I plan on weighing in tomorrow although that won't be a full week, but we have big plans for both Friday and Saturday and so I don't think if I weighed in on Monday it would be accurate to show me if eatting better is making a difference. I have riden my bike twice this week for 30 minutes and done wights twice this week for 15 minutes each time and I walked on the treadmill for 45 minutes changing the incline every 5 minutes. I am about to ride my bike again today and then walk on the treadmill tomorrow. Overall I am sick of excercising and thinking about my weght so much...but what can you do :)

  1. I think it will get easier as the weather warms up and you can get outside more. I read that weighloss is 70% caloric intake and 30% exercise. If you don't eat enough and exercise too much you won't lose weight. My sister, who is a personal trainer, told me that if I eat 1250 calories a day, I CAN NOT exercise more than 20 min. (30 min MAX) per day or my body will begin to hold onto calories and fat deposits because it doesn't know that I will eat more when I lose the weight-it thinks I am going into a period of starvation. She said the best way to calculate how much you can exercise is times you weight by 10 and that's how many calories you need to function daily (breathe, digest, etc) So, about 1600 for you. Then add 200 calories if you are not sedentary, but not active-like a stay at home mom who cleans and cares for kids. Add 200-300 more if you are exercising (per hour) So, for you-1600+200+300=2100, then minus 500. So, if you keep working out, you shoudn't eat less than 15-1600 calories a day or your metabolism will actually slow down. If you are getting sick of exercising, she said to watch calories, eat healthy foods, and just do very light exercises like taking a walk, cleaning house, maybe do 15 min. of cardio or strength training. Ironically, you will lose more weight this way.
